Arbor Day
Try to understand why I would memorise the ridges and veins on your
hands.
But what's the point in changing if anticipation's everything?
And what's the point in trying if you just love everything or nothing?
The heart may break, but I'm tired today so I'll sleep in the bed where
we lay.
Is it wrong to list the things you lack
When I remember the weight of your hands on my back?
And I remember the broken miles, and pounding the path with a thousand
paces.
And just because you smile, it doesn't make your house a better place...
Or at least explain if your face stayed the same,
Why your name and your accent changed
On Arbor Day.
